Hey it's Dubai. The colours might need changing. And I might make it more excessive later on.

Some girls in America are encouraged to make pledges to their parents to stay virgins till they marry, and I got thinking about making a contract with your parents when you're really young (some of the girls made pledges when they were only 7), that you feel bound to later on. Being resricted by expectations. The enclosed groups some of these kids live in, where they get homeschooled and can't date mean they never get exposed to anything. Which might make them very fragile when they leave home.

☟ is my book cover for Perfume by Patrick Süskind for the Penguin Design Award.

I think doing book covers is nice practice. But it was tricky trying to get it practical and communicate what I wanted. I tried to make a solid vapour/smoke thing from tape.

This is messing about with the type. Making a city from the bits.

I fancy some animation now...

Saw a lot at the Frieze Art Fair on sunday. It was too packed to really do much but binge on it, but it was good. I liked the look of these:

A lot of my photos got refl/affected by the glossy frames.

ALSO I've been listening to this song lots lately. I didn't know anything about Jim Carroll till he died last month, but just the way he sings this is great.

Some pictures I drew over summer...

This is an attempt at experimenting with the picture plane/angles etc. It's really just a drawing I did loosely based on the word 'hope', but not very loosely.

And I tried to make some dynamic drawings, because my work normally ends up a bit static and uptight. ^this is a girl skipping.

I have a blog now.
Here's some pieces I did last year, that I was ok with.

I went to Chicago with University in March. This is a piece about
the sounds and conversations I heard when I was walking about.

I made this video from films I shot in Chicago. It's about the structure of the city, and other things.

This is an animation inspired by the song Army Ants by Tom Waits.

I won't put too much old stuff up, hopefully I come out with something new soon. And I should update pretty regularly.
